Pancho Villa was a man who can be considered very controversial, he killed many people and invaded a select group of places in New Mexico. Some have called him a hero due to his intentions for committing such crimes. Other people like to believe that he was evil, an assassin, and most importantly, an outlaw. The military considers him target practice since they were able to test new equipment while they began searching for him.
Villa shares common grounds with other outlaws that were discussed last mod such as, Juan de Oñate and Billy the Kid. Villa and Billy both became outlaws very early in their lives which made them have to be on constant run from authorities. Villa and Oñate, on the other hand, were very unruly and cruel towards the people of the village(s) they invaded and attempted to conquer.
For me, it's hard to classify him under the "hero" or "villain" category because he shared both of those qualities throughout his life. If I personally had to choose I'd say he was a ''Herillan'' (mix of hero and villain) because he committed many crimes but he claimed to do them for specific reasons that could qualify as deeds for the benefit of himself and his people. Pancho Villa is truly an interesting character and I think many other people can agree with that statement.
