Homework for Wednesday

What were the roles and the importance of Africans in Spanish America? they were soldiers, servents, settlers, slaves and they were part of the auxiliaries for both the spanish and portuguese explorers.

What are some of the examples the article uses to support its argument about the role of Black Conquistadors? The article mentioned  Juan Valiente, Sabastian Toral, Juan Garrido, and Juan Garcia. These people had part in the expeditions and lived  good lives afterward , these people helped Spain push forward into N. America

Race is a social construct. How was race constructed in Colonial Mexico and how did these constructs change depending on a persons social position?  Race was constructed in the following ways... Spaniards that were born in Europe, Native Americans, Africans, and then Spaniard descendants. These people could change their social status and how they were recognized by marrying certain people, purchasing a certificate of "Cleansing", or by the kind of job they had.
