History of the El Paso Valley

Juan de Oñate's treatment of the Manso people was better.  Because Onate sent clothing to the Manso. Onate  also arranged a banquet and ask Manso to be their guests. Onate offered food to the Manso.
But Onate's treatment of the Acoma Pueblo was very brutal. When Acoma Pueblo refused to offer tribute to Onate and rose up against them, Onate punished them and killed 800  Acoma Pueblo people. And some of Acoma Pueblo became slavers by Onate. It is very different from the Onate's treatment Manso and Acoma Pueblo.
I think because Manso did not refuse their requirement and offered some stuffs to them. But Acoma Pueblo people refused them and not to follow them, so Onate people were unhappy and punished Acoma Pueblo.
Of course, Onate is a hero, his expedition has a significant in New Mexico. But on the other hand, a person always have two sides including Onate. During he did expedition, he has killed many people and cruelly treat people. Even as the result, maybe it broke a family. So sometimes, Onate also was a villain.
