short summary

New Mexico changed when the Independence from Spain happened. Mexico had a change of governments, but it didn't effect New Mexico that much. Mexico was restricted to trade with foreigners but with the Independence they were aloud to trade. They mostly traded with the Americanos.
"Mexico's independence ushered in a new era of commerce along the Santa Fe Trail which changed forever the course of New Mexico's history."

the Santa Fe trail was a huge deal, it went through New Mexico and Missouri. Santa Fe was an important place where trading with people across America all happened.
"The most notable event of this period occurred in 1836, when the Mexican Republic dispatched Albino Perez to New Mexico to assume the governorship and implement a new government. "

this didn't last very long. this governor was an "outsider" while past governs were Native Americans. he wasn't that bright. some small wars broke out but one without any death   involved, New Mexico stayed quiet and kept on going.
