Juan De Oñate

When the Manso people greeted Oñate with a cross, he saw them as equals to him and. His men because they had the same religious views. Juan De Oñate was also greeted with food and water in return for some clothing. Coronado saw himself as better then the Zuni people and gave then orders and commands instead of treating them with respect. Oñate's treatment with the Manso people was much better then Coronado's treatment with the Zuni people. Juan De Oñate treated the Manso people with respect but then went to the Acoma people and treated them very poorly. When the native woman was raped by Oñate's men the Acoma people killed them which is understandable but when Oñate found out he overreacted which lead to a small revolt. Oñate reacted to this by slaughtering, enslaving, banishing, and cutting off the feet of all who were old enough to be involved. I think that Juan De Oñate was very far from being a hero because i don't think that anybody should idolize or respect someone who would put a group of people through something like that.
