Oante was nice to the Manso because they gave him water for his travels. and because the people had made the cross to show them peace, because Francisco Vasquez had passed though before. and they exchanged clothing for fish to show peace,or thanksgiving. but his treatment against the Acoma pueblo was harsh, just because they stood up for their religion and honor he killed 800, slaved 500, and chopped off the foot or every male.
i do not see him as a hero. he murdered hundreds for not being a serten way, he reminds me of Hitler. but this is just one of thoughs story where there are two sides to it.
